About this site

There’s something special about Madison that’s hard to define. Built on an isthmus, the city blends with the university, resulting in a big college town that retains small-town charm. This site is a collection of images and experiences that aims to capture the loveliness of Madison for longtime residents and first-time visitors alike.

It’s not meant to be a comprehensive list of places to see or things to do; rather, it’s a visual sampling of what makes Madison so unique. We are grateful to the many talented photographers whose work made this site truly sing, and we hope it will inspire you to explore further and experience Madison for yourself.

This site was developed by the Office of Strategic Communication at UW–Madison. Images have been sourced from UW–Madison’s photo library, as well as local and regional photographers.
